발표제목: Functional genomics for bovine respiratory disease project and KIT gene regulator

Bovine respiratory disease (BRD) is caused by a combination of predisposing environmental factors and viral and bacterial pathogens and is responsible for significant economic losses in cattle worldwide. We examined the global changes in mRNA abundance in healthy lung and lung lesions and the lymphoid tissues retropharyngeal lymph node, nasopharyngeal lymph node and pharyngeal tonsil collected at the peak of clinical disease from beef cattle experimentally challenged with bovine respiratory syncytial virus, infectious bovine rhinotracheitis, bovine viral diarrhea virus, Mannheimia haemolytica and Mycoplasma bovis. We elucidate common and pathogen-specific defense mechanisms induced post-infection such as the activation of specific pattern recognition receptors. We also identified a regulatory element for KIT gene in Angus and Hereford breed using qPCR and Luciferase assay.
